Two-minute drill as meditation (and chaos generator)
Clock management is where football sims either feel genius or cruel. I like the cruelty — it forces you to admit you don't really know how many timeouts you need until you've burned one stupidly.
My drill journal
After each close game I answer three prompts:
- What did I think the defense was giving me?
- What did the sim actually reward?
- If I had one more timeout, would I have been smarter — or just slower?
Why War Room fits this habit
The fantasy isn't only playcalling; it's ownership of consequences. The blog becomes a place to publish those consequences without needing highlight clips.
A good sim post is just a confession with timestamps.
Keep it specific: down, distance, wind if the game models it, and what you assumed about the opponent's fatigue. Readers fill in the blanks with their own nightmares.
