- Want: what they think they're earning
- Fear: what they think the coach believes about them
Yes, it's made up. So is half of real sports media — the difference is you're honest about the fiction.

When injuries hit, you already know who feels next-man-up versus who is secretly relieved. That changes substitution patterns and how aggressively you call situational plays.
